Doors Open Pittsburgh is planning its second event in October, expanding this year to include the North Side and the Strip District.

Curious, or "nebby," participants with an interest in the city's history will have the chance to peer into sites not always accessible.

During the 2016 inaugural event, more than 4,000 people wandered through 39 buildings in downtown Pittsburgh.

This year, doors will open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7-8 (not all building open all hours).

"(Doors Open Pittsburgh) gives you a reason to explore buildings that you may never have been in, heard about or thought you knew. We want you to be nebby," says founder Bonnie Baxter in a release.

This year's collection will include approximately 69 office buildings, private clubs, houses of worship, government offices, theaters, hotels, artist spaces and residential buildings.

Stops include Dollar Bank, the Allegheny County Courthouse , Koppers Building, Nova Place, Bogg's Mansion, and Allegheny General Hospital.

Attendees can create their own itinerary from the website and visit sites at their leisure. Depending on the buildings, visitors will be provided a semi- or fully-guided tour, or the opportunity to explore on their own.

Tickets are $8 for one-day, $12 for two-day, free for those under 18 or over 65 (tickets still required).

New this year are "Insider Tours," led by local experts and requiring a separate ticket.

Tickets are sold only online at DoorsOpenPgh.org.
