Mt. Pleasant resident and playwright Stacy Lyn DiPasquale will give a staged reading of her first full-length play, "Not Ready Yet," at 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Mt. Pleasant Free Public Library, 120 S. Church St.

"'Not Ready Yet' is a bit of a mystery, but it's also about relationships and how much of ourselves we expose to certain people and why," DiPasquale says in a release.

The play opens with the character of Amber Nicholson returning to Pittsburgh a year and a half after the murder of her sister, a murder Nicholson believes is tied to her sister's drug addiction.

The play features Cody Knotts as Ryan, Chris Stachtiaris as Steven, Amanda Leight as Susan, Joe Schneider as John, Tina Lepidi-Stewart as Joanne and Laura Ratica as Trish.

Matthew Grimm will direct.

DiPasquale was one of a group of writers in the Beautiful Cadaver Project whose play, "NorthSouthEastWest," won the 2016 Pittsburgh Fringe Festival's Spirit of Fringe award.

Library officials plan for the staged reading to kick off a new monthly series, Sunday Salon, which will officially begin in 2018.

"We wanted to do something to focus on the arts because we have found that there are many artists, writers, musicians, and actors in the town and surrounding areas looking for a place to publicly share their work," says library board member Kathleen Ceroni in a release.

That plan also includes providing opportunities for high school students to participate in Poetry Out Loud, a National Endowment for the Arts programs.

DiPasquale's play contains adult language and content. Donations will benefit the library.
