The Improv Comedy Club in The Waterfront in Homestead, is set to undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation in the near future.

The 15-year-old club also announced a long-term lease agreement with Levity Entertainment Group.

“The Pittsburgh Improv has been one of The Waterfront's most popular tenants for almost two decades — it attracts more than 75,000 visitors a year,” says Marty Sweeney, senior vice president of The Waterfront's parent company, M&J Wikow, in a news release.

“Now, with the complete renovation of the space, we expect that number to increase significantly.”

Officials say the remodel is expected to help attract a higher caliber of talent to The Improv and increase seating and amenities for traditionally full houses.

Key updates include increasing seating from 360 to about 400, expanding the theater, installing a new kitchen and outdoor bar and patio, and the potential addition of live music to the comedy roster talent, according to a release.

Renovations are expected to begin in July.

“Since its debut in 2002, we've had tremendous success in attracting comedy fans from all over Western Pennsylvania to The Pittsburgh Improv,” says Robert Hartmann, Levity Entertainment Group CEO, in a release.

“With the planned renovations and long-term commitment to the Pittsburgh market, we look forward to offering an even more enhanced guest experience while continuing to bring the industry's top national touring comedians to our stage and supporting Pittsburgh's own great local comedic talent,” Hartmann says.
