A former football halfback who segued into a Hollywood career, Burt Reynolds will appear on Aug. 12 at Steel City Comic Con at the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Plaza Blvd.

Reynolds, 81, will be available for autographs and photo ops from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Well-known for serious films like “Deliverance” and the sports comedy “The Longest Yard,” he also starred in action comedies including “Smokey and the Bandit” and “The Cannonball Run.”

He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1999 film “Boogie Nights.”

A director and producer, Reynolds is still acting in films.

Reynolds also was known for several high-profile romantic relationships, including with actresses Sally Field and former wife Loni Anderson.

Tickets are $35 after July 23, $20 in advance; children under 10 are free with adult admission.
