The first full trailers are out for two very different movies shot in the Pittsburgh area.

“Concussion” stars Will Smith as Dr. Bennet Omalu, the real-life doctor who first discovered CTE in the brains of football players. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is found in people with a history of repetitive brain injuries.

The trailer opens with a shot of Heinz Field, and focuses on Omalu's clashes with the NFL.

The film also stars David Morse as former Steelers center Mike Webster, who was the first NFL player to be diagnosed with CTE, and Albert Brooks as Dr. Cyril Wecht. “Concussion,” which was shot in Pittsburgh last fall, is set for release on Christmas Day.

“Love the Coopers,” which was being called “Let It Snow” when it was shooting all around Western Pennsylvania earlier this year, is due out Nov. 13. The all-star cast includes John Goodman and Diane Keaton as parents trying to bringing together their family for Christmas, including children played by Ed Helms, Olivia Wilde and Marisa Tomei. Other actors include Amanda Seyfried, Alan Arkin, Anthony Mackie and June Squibb.

Filming locations included Pamela's P&G Diner in Millvale, Butler Memorial Hospital, the Shop ‘n Save and Wooden Nickel in North Huntingdon, Boyce Park in Monroeville, a sound stage in Churchill and the Ligonier Diamond, which figures prominently in the trailer.

Two other Pittsburgh-shot movies also are scheduled for release later this year — “The Last Witch Hunter” with Vin Diesel on Oct. 23 and “Fathers and Daughters” with Russell Crowe and Seyfried at a date still to be determined.
