Actor Elijah Wood, who has been in Pittsburgh recently to shoot the movie “The Last Witch Hunter” with Vin Diesel, told Seth Meyers on Nov. 5 about his experience at Etna's Scarehouse on Halloween.
“The Lord of the Rings” star is apparently a very big fan of haunted houses.
“They don't really scare me, but I love the aesthetic,” Elijah told the late-night host. “It's like being in the middle of a horror film; people are jumping out at you, and I'm smiling from ear to ear.”
The star said he was impressed with the regular tour of the Scarehouse and decided to do the extra-scary, hands-on part of the haunted house, the Basement.
“The Basement is an invasive experience that lasts for 35 minutes. You have to sign a waiver to go through,” he said, describing how the actors can “grab you, simulate choking you, put bags over your head.”
“At one point, I was told to confess my sins. That got really revealing,” he said. The scariest part was waiting for the next thing to happen, not knowing what was coming, he said. But in the end, he was glad he went.
After meeting the Scarehouse owner and cast and posing for pictures, one of them gave him a ride home. “The guy, on his car stereo is the ‘Halloween' soundtrack and that made me so happy.”
