It wasn’t the news Team Gabby wanted to hear.

American Idol top 3 finalist Gabby Barrett was the first to be eliminated during the live two-hour finale Monday.

“We say goodbye to one of our superstars this year — Gabby Barrett,” said show host Ryan Seacrest.

Barrett exited the stage and hugged her waiting parents.

Maddie Poppe, a 19-year-old from Iowa was crowned champ of the 16th season.

Team Gabby fans, assembled at a watch party at Crafthouse Stage and Grill in Pittsburgh, were saddened by the voting results.

“Everyone here is in shock — we are all confident that she will be successful,” said devoted fan Kristen Brodak of Pittsburgh.

“I think she got robbed and we are still proud of our Pittsburgh girl,” said Cyndee Ladley from South Park.

Barrett, of Munhall, was a constant frontrunner from the beginning, consistently garnering praise from judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

“Thank you American Idol!!! You’ve already made so many of my dreams come true,” Barrett posted on Facebook before the finale.

Surprises and star-studded performances were executed by all three American Idol finalists — Barrett, Poppe and Caleb Lee Hutchinson.

Blase Barrett said earlier on Monday that Gabby had packed and faced two travel scenarios.

“She either goes home or goes to New York,” said dad Blase Barrett.

Darren Moore of Shady Side, Ohio said for Barrett, her journey isn’t ending.

“Gabby we all are still so proud of you. This journey you are on has not ended — it honestly has just started and you will go very far in the music industry,” he said.

Maddie Poppe, the 2018 American Idol winner, is scheduled to appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Tuesday.

Barrett will tour this summer, joining the American Idol Live 2018 Tour this summer, with a performance stop scheduled in Pittsburgh.
