Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society Inc. will host the 255th anniversary of the Battle of Bushy Run at the Penn Township site Aug. 4-5.

Re-enactments, historical demonstrations and an immersion in mid-18th century life are planned as the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society hosts the 255th anniversary of the Battle of Bushy Run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 4-5.

The schedule of events will feature the annual re-enactment of the two-day battle between the forces of King George III and the confederation of Native Americans, according to a news release.

New this year are morning historical demonstrations, including tactical and refugee demonstrations on Saturday and a musical performance and 18th century fashion show on Sunday, the release adds.

A single battle re-enactment will begin at 2 p.m. each day, with the first day’s battle portrayed on Saturday and the second day’s on Sunday.

“For years, we have followed tradition and hosted this re-enactment event that families continually look forward to attending each year. Keeping tradition in mind, we are thrilled to implement a new schedule of events and add some fun and exciting activities that we know our visitors and participants will enjoy,” Bonnie Ramus, volunteer and society president, says in the release.

“Our goal is to educate the community on the historical significance of Bushy Run in the most engaging way possible. The additions and new format of our anniversary event will accomplish just that,” she adds.

Visitors can participate in the demonstrations and re-enactments, visit the military camps, sutler trade area and museum gift shop.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children age 3 and up.

Weekend passes are $15 for adults, $7 for children.

All will be sold at the entrance gate.
