Former co-director Michael Olijnyk is the new executive director of the Mattress Factory , a move that has long been part of the museum’s succession plan, according to a news release.
Olijnyk previously worked alongside the North Side, Pittsburgh museum’s founding director, Barbara Luderowski , who died on May 30.
He has been an integral part of museum leadership since its 1977 incorporation, the release adds. He was promoted to co-director in 2008, sharing duties and responsibilities with Luderowski.
“The Mattress Factory is looking forward to the future under the leadership of Michael Olijnyk. We are confident that Michael’s vision and passion for the museum will continue to inspire the artists and art lovers of the world,” board chairman Michael White states in a release.
