Rock band Nickelback has been forced to cancel the remaining dates on its No Fixed Address North American tour, including a stop Aug. 12 at First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown, because lead singer Chad Kroeger needs to have a cyst removed from his voice box.
According to a news release from the band, Kroeger will undergo surgery in three weeks following vocal rest ordered by doctors. Nickelback cancelled shows over the weekend, hoping the additional rest and treatment would help, but Kroeger's doctor revealed a more serious scenario.
“I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans,” Kroeger said. “I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my voice back in good form as quickly as possible.”
A full recovery is expected and the No Fixed Address tour is scheduled to resume on Sept. 30 in Helsinki, Finland, the start of the European leg of the tour.
Nickelback are expected to return to North America in 2016.
Ticket refunds will be available at the point of purchase.
