Touring in support of their new album, “Prayers for the Damned,” the hard-rock band Sixx:AM opened their show in Pittsburgh with “This is gonna hurt” and “Rise” Wednesday at Stage AE.
Formed in Los Angeles in 2007 by Mötley Crüe bass guitarist Nikki Sixx, the band is comprised of vocalist and producer James Michael with guitarist Daren Jay “DJ” Ashba. Sixx:A.M. is a combination of all of the members' last names (Sixx, Ashba, Michael).
The group is best known for their songs “Life Is Beautiful” and “Lies of the Beautiful People” and has released three studio albums: The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (2007), This Is Gonna Hurt (2011), and Modern Vintage (2014). It has sold over 1 million albums globally. On April 29, Sixx:A.M. released Volume 1 of their new double album “Prayers for the Damned” via Eleven Seven Music. The album's first single, “Rise,” is currently #5 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. Their global “Prayers for the Damned Tour” kicked off at the Welcome to Rockville festival on April 30, followed by performances at other major U.S. and European festivals this spring and summer.
