Guster plays an outdoor set on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at the corner of Sampsonia Way and Veto Street in the Mexican War Streets neighborhood of Pittsburgh. They were supposed to play a show Saturday in Philadelphia.

Reason No. 3,785 Pittsburgh is great: You can see internationally renowned pop bands jam in an alleyway after a blizzard.

More than a dozen lucky Pittsburghers enjoyed an impromptu live performance from Boston-based Guster on Saturday in the North Side after their Philadelphia show got postponed because of the snowstorm and the group got stuck in Pittsburgh.

Just after 1 p.m. the band tweeted, “We're gonna play a short set in front of this dumpster at 2pm. Pittsburgh. Come at us. Sampsonia & Veto. #randyland.”

The 15-minute jam session may not have attracted much of a live audience, but the band later posted a performance video on its Facebook page that has gotten more than 160,000 views and added a photo of the show on Instagram.

They also garnered some attention from Mayor Bill Peduto, who invited the group back for a much more proper show in the future.

“I love you mayor of Pittsburgh,” the band responded.

If you missed Guster in the alley, no worries — the band is currently offering a contest giving away a free trip for two to see them perform in Los Angeles in February.
