MANUFACTURING

• At its Pittsburgh headquarters, Koppers Inc. appointed Amanda Battisti and Raymond Koch , both as environmental managers in the safety, health and environment department; and Ram Amruthavakkula as senior programmer analyst in the information technology department.


BANKING, FINANCE

• Commercial National Financial Corp., parent company of Commercial Bank & Trust of Pennsylvania, appointed Roy Dale Landers as a director. Landers is the senior consultant of Water Treatment Services Inc.

• BPU Investment Management Inc. promoted Paul Brahim to chief executive officer.

Jonathan J. Costello , vice president and loan servicing center manager at S&T Bancorp Inc., achieved honor student status from the Pennsylvania Bankers Association School of Banking.

• Attorney William H. Humphries III is certified as an accredited estate planner by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. Humphries is a certified public accountant, affiliated with the Luttner Financial Group Ltd., the Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America and Park Avenue Securities.


LEGAL

Heidi B. Hamman Shakely was named chair of the board of directors at Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC. Shakely is member-in-charge of the Harrisburg office and chair of the firm's insurance coverage and compliance group.

• The Pittsburgh office of Burns White LLC hired as associates: Jeffrey R. Bailey , a health care defense litigator, who concentrates in medical malpractice, health care and general liability; and Ryan M. Carroll , former Allegheny County assistant district attorney, who joined the firm's workers' compensation group, where he primarily defends employers and insurance companies.

Jason Mettley joined Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP as an associate. Mettley focuses his practice on representing plan sponsors and individuals in employee benefit matters.

Michael Wojcik rejoined Thorp Reed & Armstrong LLP in its construction and litigation practice groups, following two terms as Allegheny County solicitor. Appointed to serve as solicitor to the Allegheny County Airport Authority, Wojcik's practice will focus on counseling the authority and other clients in labor, human resources, bankruptcy, environmental and general litigation matters.

Lee Kim , an attorney in the health care law and the intellectual property practices at Tucker Arensberg P.C., was elected as an officer of the Allegheny County Bar Association's health law section.


HEALTH CARE

• Family Hospice and Palliative Care named Dr. Myles Zuckerman chief medical officer.

Dr. Amy Houtrow was named chief of the division of pediatric rehabilitation medicine at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Her main clinical focus is caring for children with disabling conditions. Houtrow is an associate professor and vice chair in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation for pediatric rehabilitation medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. John Luellen was promoted to vice president and chief quality officer for Heritage Valley Health System.


NONPROFITS

Presbyterian SeniorCare and its affiliates hired Mary Kate Bartley as manager of work force development.


OTHER

Gateway Commerce Center, Lawrence County, appointed Deborah Sudano general manager.

AWARDS

Beverly Silvis was named Program Director of the Year by the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Silvis directs Excela Health School of Anesthesia, conducted in cooperation with St. Vincent College, Latrobe.

James B. Pieffer received a Distinguished Alumni Award for Practice from University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Pieffer is president of SeniorCare Network Inc. and executive vice president of Presbyterian SeniorCare.

Harry J. Gruener received the Robert T. Harper Excellence in Teaching Award from the graduating class of University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Gruener teaches family law and family law drafting. He is the director of the law school's family law clinic and is of counsel to law firm Gentile, Horoho & Availli P.C.
