In operation in Greensburg for 16 years, Mister Bones Bistro will close its business on New Year's Eve.

Five months after announcing its decision to discontinue the sale of alcohol, Greensburg eatery Mister Bones Bistro , 640 N. Main St., is closing on New Year's Eve.

Notifying patrons via Facebook, as it did in July with the decision regarding alcohol , the business's post earlier this week says the closure is "difficult" but "necessary."

"We have enjoyed being a Greensburg fixture for great sandwiches and food for 16 years, but due to many situations we can't continue moving forward. Thank you to all our loyal customers and fantastic employees for helping our small business over our many years in Greensburg," the post notes.

In July, Arron Panigall, one of the owners, told the Tribune-Review that new state laws were a factor in ending alcohol sales.

The business also changed its name slightly, from Mister Bones Bistro Brew Hub to Mister Bones Bistro, concentrating on food, which accounted for about 50 percent of its sales, according to Panigall.

"Financially speaking, it just was not worth it any more for us. We decided to close at the end of the year and pull the plug on it," he says.

The family purchased the business 11 years ago but does not own the building. It employes about 10 people, says Panigall, who has no plans to stay in the food business.

We saw the writing on the wall. We did our best to keep relevant. We are a small guy competing against the Subways and Paneras. ... We will definitely miss it. We had great friends, great employees," Panigall says.

The post encourages guests to stop in before Dec. 31 to "enjoy their favorite offerings," use any remaining gift cards and "say goodbye to our little family restaurant."
