There are conflicting reports about whether soccer star David Beckham and his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, are considering buying Britain’s most expensive estate, Abbotswood Estate in the Cotswolds, listed at $41.7 million.
The couple, now in their 40s with four children, love real estate. With an estimated net worth of $350 million, they have owned homes in many locations around the world. They have had a mansion in Los Angeles, a large villa in Spain and a $70 million townhouse in London.
Several London tabloids have linked the Beckhams to Abbotswood Estate, which dates as far back as 1263. But the New York Post says the “posh” couple aren’t interested in the 22,293-square-foot manor house two hours outside of London.
The stone mansion, built around 1862, has 10 bedrooms, six baths and five living rooms on 775 acres, which also includes 11 farmhouses and cottages and 45,000 square feet of updated barns.
The land is currently registered organic for farming, and current livestock consists of a flock of 1,800 ewes. The estate grounds have formal gardens, which were designed by the notable Edwin Lutyens, and the River Dikler runs through the estate, providing abundant fishing for brown trout.
