Connellsville band Dirt Road Sunset releases CD for holidays
A local band’s CD featuring sounds of the season is helping others.
Dirt Road Sunset recently released its first Christmas CD, “Good Will.”
George Estochin of Melcroft said he and his bandmates — Sandy Smith of Normalville, Eddie Cline of Donegal and brother Dave Cline of Champion — wrote the four Christmas songs on the new CD.
“They are all originals. All four of us put our heads and our talents together to write all our songs,” Estochin said. “There is a religious tune, one like Chicago, one that is jazzy blues and one like a rock Christmas tune.”
The cost of the CD is $5. Estochin said 100 percent of the proceeds are given to three different charities, the Disabled American Veterans, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Breast Cancer Coalition of Westmoreland County.
“I have a daughter who is a totally disabled veteran; and we have breast cancer survivors in our family; and Children’s hospital once took care of our bill when my daughter was little,” Estochin said.
He said the CD has been so popular they have had trouble keeping up with the demand.
“We will definitely do one again next year. We already have all the songs written for it,” Estochin said.
Chrissy Deliman of Champion said she knows Estochin very well from church and has bought a couple of the band’s CDs including the “Good Will.”
“The CD was really good. I love Christmas music to begin with so listening to George and his band sing Christmas music was awesome. The song I like the most is Christmas groove. Loved the beat of it,” Deliman said.
“Good Will” is available at Dr. David Lentz DDS office, Living Treasures Animal Park, the Old General Store and Country Pie Shoppe in Donegal Township and the Old General Store in Mt. Pleasant.
