Queen/Adam Lambert summer tour includes PPG Paints Arena date
Following the success of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the Freddie Mercury/Queen movie, original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor will team up again with longtime front man Adam Lambert on lead vocals for a 23-date North American arena and stadium “Rhapsody” tour.
Running from mid-July through late August, the tour has a July 31 date at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Dec. 7 at livenation.com. Queen and Adam Lambert fan club pre-sales will run from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Dec. 6.
The six-week tour will debut a brand new larger-than-life production, according to a release.
“This new show promises to be their most spectacular yet, an innovative and interactive celebration of the continued power of Queen’s music,” Stufish Entertainment Architects’ set designer Ric Lipson said in the release.
“We have been designing a brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to unveil it,” Lambert said.
Lambert first shared the stage with Queen for the 2009 “American Idol final.” Their first full show together was played in front of a half-million people in Kiev, Ukraine, in June 2012. Since then, they’ve gone on to 180 gigs around the world.
Completing the “Rhapsody” tour line-up will be long-term collaborator Spike Edney on keyboards, Neil Fairclough on bass and Tyler Warren on percussion.
