‘Glee’s’ Ushkowitz to star in Pittsburgh CLO’s ‘Wedding Singer’
The upcoming Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera summer season will include a few familiar faces to television viewers.
Jenna Ushkowitz, who played Tina on the Fox hit “Glee,” will star as Julia, the role made famous by Drew Barrymore, in “The Wedding Singer.” Ushkowitz started her acting career very young, on the set of “Sesame Street.” The lead character of Robbie will be played by Matthew Scott, who appeared in Pittsburgh CLO’s “Legally Blonde the Musical last year as Emmett. His wife, Kirsten Scott, will play Julia. “The Wedding Singer” will be performed from July 24 to Aug. 2.
Robert Newman and Kim Zimmer, who played passionate supercouple Josh Lewis and Reva Shayne for more than 25 years on CBS’ “The Guiding Light,” will star in “Gypsy” (July 10 to 19) as talent agent Herbie and ultimate showbiz mother, Rose. Louise will be played by Amanda Rose, who has appeared in the Broadway touring production of “Wicked” as Nessarose.
The cast of “Mary Poppins” (June 9 to 21) will include Lindsey Bloom, who has appeared in national tours of the show, as Mary, and David Elder, who played Don Lockwood in last year’s Pittsburgh CLO’s “Singing’ in the Rain,” as Bert.
