Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown will ends its summer season with romance and music in a humorous revue of courtship and family life in “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” which opens Aug. 2.

The comedy musical, based on the book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro, brings dating, romance, marriage, in-laws, newborns and family vacations to the stage in a series of sketches.

“It’s truly a heartfelt musical,” says director Larry Tobias. “It shows the trajectory of love and relationships from late adolescence through old age.

“It’s a series of sketches about people at different points along the relationship continuum,” Tobias says. “It is an often humorous look at relationships.”

Lisa Riegel, Kaitlin Stilwell, Chan Harris and J.D. Daw make up the cast. Terry Osman is the musical director and performs on the piano with Elizabeth Pile on violin.

“Music is a huge component,” Tobias says. “We have great singers. We have the singers and actors you want. It’s unusual to get that combination of actors and singers that work so well together. It is funny and they will have a great performance.”

A party with the cast in the Tuscany Room at Green Gables restaurant will follow the 7 p.m. Aug. 3 performance. The art of the late David Weimer, of Somerset, will be featured in the Jenner Gallery.

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” will be performed Aug. 2 to 14 at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 8 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays, 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; and 3 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $19 to $39, $10 for students at Mountain Playhouse, 7690 Somerset Pike, Jennerstown. Details: 814-629-9220 or
