40 Pittsburgh artists join free Carnegie Library music service

A curated selection of Pittsburgh area music will be available for free streaming and downloading with just a library card.

The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is launching their STACKS digital music service Friday.

A library card is all it takes to gain streaming and downloading access to the music.

The library‚Äôs Director of Digital Strategy Toby Greenwalt told WESA they had 160 musicians apply for one of the 40 inaugural slots. Library staff and members of the music community selected the artists that best represent the current music scene. The diverse collection of artists and genre will be expanded twice each year. Musicians with a Pittsburgh connection can apply for the next round by contacting [email protected] .
