Area theater, music groups set auditions for upcoming programs

These area arts groups have scheduled auditions for their upcoming programs:

“Peter Pan and Wendy,” Greensburg Civic Theatre Greasepaint Players production — 6-8:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road.

For the title roles, a boy or girl ages 10-16 with short hair will be cast as Peter Pan and a girl ages 12-16 will be cast as Wendy. Overall cast will include two adult women, one adult man, four or more teen boys or girls willing to play boys and eight or more younger boys and/or girls willing to play boys.

Show dates will be March 15 and 16.

Audition spots can be reserved at (click on “Main Stage”), although walk-ins will be accepted. Resumes and head shots, though not required, can be submitted in advance to [email protected]

• “Disney’s Aladdin Jr.,” Diamond Theatre production — 3-6 p.m. Feb. 3, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and 8:30-10 p.m. Feb. 8, Diamond Theatre of Ligonier, 210 W. Main St.

Performers ages 8 and older, with or without theater experience, are welcome. Potential cast members should be prepared to sing a song from “Aladdin” and to do a cold reading from the script.

Auditions will be first-come, first-served. Rehearsals will be twice weekly for two hours.

Show will run May 24 through June 2.

Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra — preliminary audition applications are being accepted through March 25, with live auditions to take place in May. Advanced music students through college age may apply; there is no minimum age requirement.

PYSO members have the opportunity to perform major symphonic works, receive coaching from Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members and attend workshops and master classes with PSO guest artists. PYSO performs in Heinz Hall and internationally; a 2020 tour of the Baltics and Scandinavia is planned.

There is a $10 application fee.
