Food trucks rolling into Westmoreland fairgrounds
Food on wheels — from tacos, gyros and sandwiches to desserts — music, a kids' zone and beer and wine samples and sales are all part of the Western Pennsylvania Food Truck Festival, coming Sept. 16 and 17 to the Westmoreland Fairgrounds.
A fundraiser for the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, the event is produced by Kelly Simon Event Management.
The event promotes mobile eateries including Aunt Dee Dee's Monster Funnel Cakes, Health-A-Licious, Tony's Festival Fun Foods, Kona Ice, Hoshi Pgh, CruzinCuisine, Doce Taqueria, Leena's Food, Bruster's Real Ice Cream, Vagabond Taco Truck and FANtastic Food.
Bands scheduled to play on Sept. 16 include Over the Hill Gang, '60s and '70s rock and roll, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Birmingham Band, classic rock, country and Southern rock, 2-4 p.m.; The Bricks, an acoustic trio playing classic '70s rock, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; and Second Wind, Southern and classic rock with a touch of fiddle, 7-9 p.m.
Sunday's line-up includes Andy Gregg Band, country music; 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Tim Woods Band, blues musician and guitarist, 2-4 p.m.; and Saddle Up, high-energy country rock, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Vendors will offer more than 20 wines and 75 domestic and craft beers for sample and purchase.
The Marketplace will feature more than 20 vendors and the Kids' Zone will offer entertainment for the youngest family members.
