Have your drink and eat it too with Finlandia's Cheeseware cups
It's that time of year for a cup of cheer.
Or, if you are fond of Gruyere or Gouda — and are a big spender — you can make that a cup (made) of cheese.
For one day only, Dec. 6, and at a price of $5,000 a pair, you can order hand-crafted vessels for beer or wine made entirely of cheese.
It's a turophile's dream come true.
In recognition of the 100th anniversary of its native Finland, celebrated on Dec. 6, cheese brand Finlandia has created what it is calling the world's first wine and beer glasses crafted entirely of cheese.
Move over, edible shot glasses. These vessels, or “cheeseware,” as Finlandia terms it, could serve as happy hour drink and appetizer all in one.
Fully edible — or maybe nibbleable, with a sip and a bite — according to a Finlandia news release, the limited edition glasses are made in partnership with Philadelphia-based food sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton.
Bearing an edible Finnish flag, versions include a 16-ounce pint glass made from Finlandia Imported Gruyere and an 8-ounce stemless wine glass fashioned of Finlandia Imported Gouda.
“To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland, we wanted to create something symbolic that is a gesture to the dozens of Finnish family-owned farms who have dedicated over 110 years of passion and dedication to making some of the world's very best cheeses,” says Marcie Foster, Finlandia marketing and brand development director, in a release.
“Our Commemorative Cheeseware deliver exactly that as they create the opportunity to toast the accomplishments of our company's heritage while showcasing the legendary taste and the quality craftsmanship that Finlandia Cheese customers have grown to expect,” Foster says.
A pricey gift, but one cheese connoisseurs likely will welcome with open arms. And mouths.
