It's the ribs. And the chicken wings. And the brisket and more. Drew Allen, owner and operator of Showcase BBQ on Frankstown Road in Homewood, is featured in Rick Sebak's new NEBBY program, 'Meat Pittsburgh,' premiering Feb. 1 on WQED.
The second episode ofRick Sebak's Kickstarter-funded Nebby series, "Meat Pittsburgh," will premiere at 8 p.m. Feb. 1 on WQED .

This 30-minute segment is a celebration of several places in and around Pittsburgh where one can find good meat, according to a release.

"Meat Pittsburgh" will introduce viewers to a side of beef at Ace Hotel's restaurant Whitfield in East Liberty, along with locally made hot dogs at the classic Shorty's Lunch in Washington, among others.

"We traveled all around greater Pittsburgh," Sebak says in the release. "And we've learned a lot. I had never had a fresh turkey for Thanksgiving before, but since I've been to Pounds Turkey Farm and I roasted one of their birds, I know I will always want to return every year just before Turkey Day."

The program begins with a warning for those who may be squeamish, or who may prefer not to know about the animal origins and processing of meat. Then Sebak, who will celebrate 30 years with WQED this year, and his cameraman, Frank Caloiero, hit the road.

Among their featured visits are:

• Ricci's Italian Sausage in Kennedy Township

• Showcase BBQ in Homewood

• Green Valley Packing, home of Albert's Meats, in Taylorstown, Washington County

• Jamison Farm near Latrobe

• Salem's Market & Grill in the Strip District

• Pounds Turkey Farm in Leechburg

• Shorty's Lunch in Washington
