Dining News: Dine down on the farm at Dawson’s Orchards
Several Pittsburgh chefs will be featured at upcoming farm dinners at Dawson’s Orchards, 122 Petersburg Road, Enon Valley.
The lineup includes The Vandal’s Csilla Thackray on Sept. 9, Kevin Hermann of The Porch Sept. 16, and Spork’s Christian Frangiadis Sept. 23.
The evening includes welcome drinks and a farm tour followed by a four- to eight-course dinner. Each evening’s menu, crafted by the featured chef, is prepared using the farm’s seasonally fresh produce. Guests also enjoy custom wine, beer or cocktail pairings with each course.
Space is limited to 20 people per dinner. Tickets to each are $95.
The fifth annual Italian barbecue will be held at White Oak Farm, 3314 Wagner Road, Allison Park, beginning at 3 p.m. Aug. 20.
The chefs of Cure, Vivo Kitchen, Stagioni, Joseph Tambellini’s, Dish, Piccolo Forno and DiAnoia’s will delight guests with a feast fundraiser benefiting The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. July 20. Cost is $155.
Wine Spirits and FoodTruck Fest ‘alcular’
The Wine Spirits and FoodTruck Fest”alcular” will be held at Stage AE, 400 North Shore Drive, Aug. 12.
The event will feature a long list of wineries, distilleries and food trucks as well as other vendors and live entertainment.
Tasting sessions will be held from noon to 3:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 for one, $25 for two. All tickets are $20 the day of the event.
Around the World wine party
An Around the World wine party will be held in the courtyard of the Priory, 614 Pressley St., on the North Side, at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17.
Host Joe Barsottie will present a tour of wines from around the world including Manos Negras Sauvignon Blanc (Chile 2014), Finca Hispana Rioja Crianza (Spain 2012), Sophie Shiraz (Australia 2015) and Zolo Malbec (Argentina 2015).
Wines will be paired with small plates from Priory chefs Pete Phillipy and Mike Henney.
Cost is $60.

Down on the farm
An Evening with Travlin’, Driftwood and 412 Food will be held at 7 p.m. July 29, at The Ferderber Farm, 166 Love Road, Valencia.
Guests will enjoy entertainment by Travlin’, a jazz ensemble, and Driftwood Oven’s wood-fired pizza and other small plates. A short tour of the farm will follow. Roundabout Brewery will provide drinks.
A portion of proceeds will go to 412 Food Rescue.
Tickets are $75 for adults, $15 for children ages 2 to 12.
