Crisis averted! Candy hearts available for Valentine’s Day after all

Brach’s says its Conversation Hearts will be readily available this Valentine’s Day.

If you’ve been holding out for a hero to save your Valentine’s Day from being devoid of those candy conversation hearts … well, your hero has arrived.

Recently it was revealed that the iconic SweetHearts candy with phrases like “Be Mine” and “Let’s Kiss” wouldn’t be available this season because the new owners of the brand wouldn’t be able to ramp up production in time.

Cue the swelling heroic music. In rides Brach’s on a white horse.

Since 1960s, Brach’s has been putting out its own conversation heart candies. And they say it’s business as usual this Valentine’s Day.

“We’re excited for Valentine’s Day 2019, as our Brach’s Conversation Hearts are widely available at all mass retailers,” Peter Goldman, a senior director with Brach’s, tells Food & Wine.

Goldman says Brach’s has small and large versions of the hearts, with more on-trend phrases, like “TTYL (Talk To You Later), Adorbz, BFF, H&K (Hugs & Kisses), and LYMY (Love You Miss You).”

“Brach’s size, texture, colors, sayings, flavors and quality provide the perfect alternative for those Sweethearts customers who haven’t yet switched to Brach’s and are lamenting this year’s lack of Necco Conversation Hearts,” he says.

He adds that Brach’s sayings are laser printed onto its candies, whereas Necco’s were stamped.

So 21st century, right?

We honestly don’t care whether they are stamped, laser-printed or handwritten. We’re just happy to know that our romantic conversations will be still be sweet this year.
