Hispanic Heritage month event includes tribute to the late, great Roberto Clemente
The Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is kicking off Hispanic Heritage month with pregame, game and postgame activities at the Pittsburgh Pirates/Cincinnati Reds game on Sept. 5 at PNC Park on the North Side.
Part of the celebration includes a commemoration of one of the city’s greats, the late Roberto Clemente. From 5 to 8 p.m., meet legends Manny Sanguillen, Grant Jackson, Roberto Clemente Jr. and the Clemente family at the new Clemente mural at Verdetto’s Bar & Restaurant, 814 Madison Ave., on the North Side. Mural artist Jeremy Raymer will also be in attendance. There will be food and entertainment. Proceeds from a silent auction benefit the chamber’s scholarship fund.
For the 7:05 p.m. game, tickets will be available, near the Clemente Wall, of course, at a discounted rated, of which $5 will benefit the chamber’s scholarship fund.
The postgame festivities begin at 8 p.m. and include Salsa in the City at the Fairmont Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh at 510 Market St. Join the chamber and Salsa 412 for an evening of elegance combined with the tropical feels of salsa dancing.
