“City Sourcing,” curated by Vicky A. Clark, is at Seton Hill Arts Center in Greensburg's Harlan Gallery through April 11.

The show features artists Boris Bally, Kim Beck, Seth Clark, Brett Day, Mark Franchino, Dana Ingham, Ramon Riley and Kara Skylling, and their perspectives on city life.

Clark, of Pittsburgh, a scholar and professor, has organized exhibitions for the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Her partnership with the Borelli Edwards Art Gallery in Lawrenceville allows her to pursue her passion of promoting Pittsburgh artists, especially women and emerging artists.

Clark hosted a curator's talk at an opening for “City Sourcing” on March 11. She answered questions from students, visiting artists and other teachers.

When asked what qualities were needed by a curator to organize a show, Clark said there were different kinds of curators, but they needed knowledge of art history, “an eye” for art and intellectual curiosity.

Students need to study art history and “exposure, exposure, exposure,” Clark said. “It's a lot of looking at art.”

Seen: gallery director Carol Brode, Saige Baxter, Shirleah Kelly, Patricia Beachley and Angela Love, wife of Pittsburgh artist Dana Ingham, who is in the show.
