In the art gallery, pop art/expressionist painter (and former Steeler) Baron Batch mingled with guests awaiting the live auction. Several of Batch's creations were on offer, along with pieces by other regional artists and an Alexander Calder lithograph donated by event committee member Karl Salatka.
Artists Autumn Chiu and Steve Pearce painted in another room.
The evening wrapped up with the staging of Yasmina Reza's Tony Award-winning comedy, “Art,” directed by alumnus Jimmy Baker.
Prior to the party, Barbara Arnold, Dr. Gregory Garth, Raymond Mastre and Lisa Veitch were presented with Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Development director Kary Coleman said plans are to make the party, which raised funds for student scholarships and the campus Cultural Arts Fund, an annual event. Distinguished alumni awards will be conferred possibly every two or three years.
Circulating in the crowd were Chancellor Kevin Snider with wife Sarah and former Chancellor Larry Pollock with wife Sudee.
