The next Cabaret Theatre production will be “The Miracle Worker,” based on the true story of teacher Annie Sullivan's efforts to connect with the seemingly unreachable deaf and blind child, Helen Keller.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10-13 and 18-20 and 2 p.m. Aug. 14 in the Latrobe Art Center, 819 Ligonier St.

“The play gives hope that no one is unreachable,” says director Leigh Anne Jerz. “Many parents and teachers are trying to make breakthroughs or are seeking their miracle worker. It encourages us all to keep trying.”

Pamela Lee will portray Sullivan, while Cassidee Knott and Carolyn Jerz share the part of Keller, the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree, who went on to be an author and political activist.

A ticket is $15 or $7.50 on opening night.
