An attempted robbery was the motive behind the shooting death of a woman in Wilkinsburg on Thursday, Allegheny County Police said Friday.

Keiauna Lynnette Davis, 27, of Wilkinsburg was shot in the 1700 block of Laketon Road shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, police said. She died later at a hospital.

Police said their investigation found that two men approached Davis in a vehicle in an apparent robbery attempt. She was hit once by gunfire during the robbery.

Police did not say what type of weapon was used. No description of the assailants or their vehicle was provided.

Davis was a mother of two, the Trib's news partner, WPXI-TV, reported.

The suspects knew Davis, police told the station.

Anyone who heard or saw anything in that area Thursday afternoon or who may have relevant information is asked to call the homicide unit at 412-473-1300.

Callers may remain anonymous.
