Pittsburgh paramedics treated eight runners Sunday participating in the 41 st Annual Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race, including a 61-year old man who suffered cardiac arrest just before the finish line at Point State Park.

Public safety spokeswoman Alicia George said the man, whom authorities did not identify, collapsed about 20 or 30 yards short of the finish line. Paramedics at the scene resuscitated him, she said.

Medics transported the man to an area hospital in critical condition, she said. They treated the other runners for minor injuries, she said.

George reported that police towed 36 cars parked along the race route and ticketed 41 others, but responded to no major problems.
