Carlynton School Board called on a familiar face to help lead the district while the search continues for a permanent superintendent.
Board members unanimously approved Joseph Dimperio as acting superintendent for no more than one year, beginning on or before Oct. 22.
Outgoing superintendent Gary Peiffer was hired by Greensburg Salem School District in July. Contractual obligations have Peiffer continuing his Carlynton duties as needed for up to 90 days.
This will be Dimperio’s third time serving as an interim or acting superintendent for Carlynton. His previous time was prior to Peiffer’s hiring six years ago. Dimperio will be paid a rate of $525 per day worked.
“I’ve been in the business a long time,” said Dimperio, who has been a permanent superintendent for several districts but now serves in the leadership role on a temporary basis.
Dimperio is finishing up his duties as acting superintendent in Beaver County’s South Side Area School District as that school board nears the end of its search for a new leader.
“He’s gotten great experience at a number of other districts in the area and he has a great reputation,” Carlynton board President Jim Schriver said. “He’s done a lot of great things for us in the past.”
