Fox Chapel Area Adult Education will accept online registration for the first time this spring.

Fox Chapel Area Adult Education is embracing its future.

For the first time in its 55 year history, the program is offering online registration and payment for the spring semester, now underway.

“We are always looking for ways to make it easy for adults to have fun, improve their health or use their limited free time to learn,” Executive Director Susan Goodwin said.

Fox Chapel Area Adult Education (FCAAE) is an outreach program of the Fox Chapel Area School District that aims to provide enrichment classes to adults at a low tuition.

Classes this season include an array of topics from portrait drawing, wines of Spain and chair triyoga to pickleball and mosaic crafts.

The group spent years planning an update to its website that would simplify the registration process, Goodwin said.

“It’s wonderful to hear students, especially those who say they don’t feel comfortable using technology, tell me that it really does take just minutes,” she said. “Another great benefit is you know right away whether you have a seat in the class. It’s especially helpful when you want to take a class with friends and you can register as a group.”

Paper brochures were mailed last week and mail-in registrations will continue to be accepted.

Most classes meet at Fox Chapel Area High School along Field Club Road. Sessions run one-night to 10 weeks.

Swim classes and other favorites are returning to the roster, Goodwin said, including zentangle, conversational German, Buddhist meditation and line dancing.
