A new big Burrito restaurant will open in the space formerly occupied by Donato's in O'Hara.

Diners disappointed by the closing of old-school Italian restaurant Donato's in Fox Chapel Plaza are in store for something big.

The big Burrito Restaurant Group — owners of Mad Mex, Kaya, Casbah, Eleven, Umi and Soba — will open a restaurant in the O'Hara space this fall.

President Bill Fuller said the menu will be a new concept for big Burrito, the first in several years. “We are excited (about) an entirely new concept,” Fuller said.

The group previously announced it would fill the former La Capella space at The Waterworks with its popular offering, Mad Mex. That also is expected to open this fall.

Pamela Berardi, communications and marketing manager, said there are no additional details available. They will be shared as they develop, she said.

Fox Chapel Plaza owner Alex Condron said Donato's operated for the last day April 1.

Donato's website was taken down last week after the restaurant operated eight years in the Lower Allegheny Valley.
