Students from Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy will sing carols during the lighting of the Tree of Hope at UPMC St. Margaret.

There will be holiday carols, cookies and a visit from Santa when officials at St. Margaret Foundation light the annual Doves of Hope Tree at the hospital campus near Aspinwall.

Students from Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy will walk to UPMC St. Margaret at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19 to perform. The public is welcome. A video of the concert will be streamed live to the rooms of patients who can’t make it to the concert. It will continue to be streamed to hospital rooms throughout the holiday season.

“Many of our patients aren’t sure if they will be home for the holidays,” Foundation President Mary Lee Gannon said. “Patients tell us that the uplifting voices of these children bring them joy and a taste of home away from home.”

The courtyard tree will be covered with ornaments made by students and with white peace doves in memory or honor of donors’ loved ones.

Doves are available for purchase at or by calling 412-784-4215.
