Folk rockers, jazz legends and an old-school reggae band will hit the stage at Hartwood Acres this summer.
Families are encouraged to grab a blanket and enjoy free music under the stars during the summer concert series at the Allegheny County park that straddles Indiana and Hampton townships.
“The 2018 Summer Concert Series has an exciting mix of styles that will appeal to music lovers of all ages,” County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said. “Whether you’re a frequent attendee, or have never been to one of our concerts, we hope you’ll join us for a great summer of live music, food trucks and craft beer.”
Upcoming concerts are free and begin at 7:30 p.m. They include funk band The Original Lakeside on July 8, American Idol winner Phillip Phillips on July 15 and folk rockers The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on July 22.
The lineup continues with indie pop band Lucius on July 29, reggae band Toots and the Maytals on Aug. 5, jazz star Larry Carlton on Aug. 12, a performance by Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre on Aug. 19, and jazz/funk rock group Sinkane Aug. 26.
Hartwood Acres also will host the 19th Annual Allegheny County Musical Festival featuring local bands on Sept. 2. There is a requested donation of $20 per vehicle to benefit children served through the county’s Department of Human Services.
