UPMC Outpatient Center opens in Hampton

UPMC's Outpatient Center, a 44,000-square-foot medical mall, in Hampton Township on Mt. Royal Boulevard, held a ribbon-cutting on Aug. 31 to celebrate its opening.

The $19-million facility will include full-service primary care for adults and pediatrics, as well as behavioral health care, primary care, diabetes education and obstetrics and gynecology.

Other services include a medical social worker, X-ray and ultrasound, rehabilitation, a wellness center and a walk-in center open seven days a week.

A number of family practices, pediatrics and other care will be present as well.

The center will provide “a wide range of outpatient services for patients in the area,” said Dave Martin, senior vice president, Health Services Division, UPMC, and president, UPMC Passavant.

The medical home concept creates a base for primary care and related services under one roof, said Martin.

The center is now open and will house 110 employees, according to Lisa Lombardo, public relations senior manager for internal communications and media relations at UPMC.

Hampton Township Council President Victor Son said this center fulfills another development goal.

“That was part of the vision that council passed over 15 years ago for that whole site,” he said of the outpatient medical mall.

“I think that is a tremendous facility and state-of-the-art,” said Son.

He said with an independent-living center and an outpatient facility in place, council hopes a nursing home will also be built there. But no plans or offers have yet to come, he said.
