Here’s what’s happening around town: Monday, Feb. 11
Today is National Make a Friend Day.
According to the Mayo Clinic, friendships can boost happiness, reduce stress and improve confidence. Adults with strong social support also experience better health, including a reduced risk of depression, high blood pressure and high body mass index.
To find more opportunities to socialize, and maybe find a new friend or two, go to the Sewickley Herald homepage and look under “Community Events.”
Looking for a volunteer opportunity?
From time to time, departments at Heritage Valley Health System use the service of volunteers in non-clinical areas throughout the health system, including escort, front desk, Gift Shop, family waiting room and clerical positions.
To be considered, volunteers must be 18 years old, complete an application, obtain a basic health clearance and complete orientation.
To volunteer, go to the hospital’s website, www.heritagevalley.org , and download the application.
