Allegheny exec Onorato's war chest for governor's race at nearly $6M
Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato's campaign for governor has amassed nearly $6 million, he announced today in an e-mail to supporters.
Other candidates for the Democratic nomination for governor next year have either reported a fraction of Onorato's war chest, or haven't released fundraising numbers.
Auditor General Jack Wagner had $480,000 in the bank as of his last report, filed a month ago. Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel, the latest entrant in the race, began raising money about two weeks ago and said he hopes to have $1 million by year's end.
Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty and Philadelphia businessman Tom Knox have not filed state campaign finance reports this year.
Onorato has led the money race since well before he officially announced his campaign. He had about $4 million in January and surpassed $5 million some time in August. Onorato announced his candidacy for governor on Oct. 6.
