Another shooting in Marshall-Shadeland on North Side

A 44-year-old man was fatally shot in the head Saturday in Marshall-Shadeland in the North Side, Pittsburgh police said.

Police said they responded to Stayton Street about 5:55 p.m. for reports of shots fired. They found the man inside a barbershop there. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Lamar Thomas, the owner of the barbershop.

The shooting is the third in the neighborhood in the past eight days. Officers responded to reports of a shooting on Smithton Street on July 17. They found two men lying on the ground, one shot in the head and the other in the back.

Two days later, a 17-year-old man was shot in the head near Sorento and Minott streets.

Police on Monday said officers were patrolling the neighborhood in response to the shootings when they arrested two 18-year-old men, one of whom they witnessed wielding a gun.

On Wednesday, police arrested a suspect in the double shooting. Christian Rash, 22, of Marshall-Shadeland is charged with two counts of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and illegally possessing a firearm.
