KITTANNING -- Elvis has just left the Town and Country Transit bus terminal.
It's official.
There were sightings of the popular rock 'n roll singer riding the bus in and around Kittanning Saturday.
"He isn't dead, you know," said Michael Johnston, Town and Country Transit general manager and a big Elvis Presley fan. "Rumors are that the King was once seen at a local Burger King and even at the old Winkey's (hamburger restaurant)."
The Elvis fanfare was for a promotion by the transit company in celebration of Presley's birthday.
Any passenger dressed as Elvis could ride the bus for free that day.
"Ride the bus and just maybe you'll be riding with the King," the advertisement said.
"He could show up," Johnston said. "If you can't have fun riding the bus dressed as Elvis, how can you have fun?
"People spend too much time worrying. I thought, let's have some fun with this."
Crissy Panaccione, 24, of Butler, a data entry clerk at Town and Country Transit, took Johnston up on his offer to ride around town as Elvis.
"I'm learning the ways of Elvis from my wonderful boss," she said. "They told me I could dress up like Elvis, and I said, 'Sign me up.' I'm so excited."
Panaccione was the Elvis wearing the white jump suit, giant silver glasses and sideburns.
"She's the King," Johnston said.
