Officials in India say arrangements are being made to bring home the body of an engineer killed in Afghanistan.

K. Suryanarayana, 41, was abducted by Taliban militants Friday evening and killed, the Press Times of India reported Sunday.

India's foreign secretary said his government was appalled at the murder but vowed to continue to help war-torn Afghanistan in its reconstruction efforts.

He said the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh personally followed the case after the kidnapping took place in the southern Afghan province of Zabul.
