Man fatally shot in Rankin robbery

Police say a Braddock man was fatally shot Thursday night during a robbery in Rankin.

Officers were called to the Hawkins Village housing complex at about 8:45 p.m., said Lt. Andrew Schurman of the Allegheny County Police.

They found Lee Williams, 46, with a gunshot wound to the chest. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, Schurman said.

Investigators believe several men entered an apartment in the complex to commit a robbery during which the victim was shot. The actors then fled, Schurman said.

Police continue to investigate.
