Man, jealous of baby, admits killing wife

A Japanese man has been charged with smothering his wife with a futon because he was angry that she paid more attention to their new baby than to him.

Investigators say Kengo Mitsuya admitted killing his wife, Rika, Mainichi Shimbun reported.

"I held a futon over her in the bedroom of our home," he reportedly said.

Mitsuya called emergency services early Monday, saying something was wrong with his wife. She was pronounced dead at a hospital at 2 a.m.

The couple lived in Aichi Prefecture with their 1-month-old son. Mitsuya reportedly admitted having a fight with his wife, telling her, "You're giving all your attention to the baby and not taking care of me."
