Michael Jackson has reportedly bought a quarter-acre on one of Bahrain's man-made Amwaj Islands to build a permanent home.
Jackson paid $1.5 million for the parcel that includes two villas with seaside views, the New York Post reported Monday.
Jackson took his three children to Bahrain after he was acquitted of California child molestation in June. He has been living as a guest of the royal family.
Both his father, Joe Jackson, and attorney Thomas Mesereau say the pop star has no intention of returning to the United States.
"He's permanently living abroad," Mesereau said. However, he declined to say whether Jackson plans on giving up U.S. citizenship.
