Rodney K. Hopson Residence: Point Breeze. Age: 40. Family: Wife, Wabei; son, Hannibal; daughter, Habiba. Occupation: Chair and associate professor in the educational foundations and leadership department of Duquesne University’s School of Education. Education: Master’s degrees in educational evaluation and linguistics; doctorate in educational evaluation, University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, 1997. Background: Selected as a J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholar in 2001 and traveled to the University of Namibia to study linguistic and societal changes after the end of apartheid there; recently returned from a research fellowship at Cambridge University in England. Noteworthy: Named Duquesne’s Hillman Distinguished Professor, an honor bestowed once every five years. Quote: “I’ve enjoyed it here the last eight years, and I hope it allows me to continue doing my international work in Africa and my collaborative research in Europe.”
