The Delmont Recreation Board’s “Movies in the Park” summer series will kick off Friday night with an inspirational story based on a New York Times bestselling novel.
“Wonder” tells the story of a young boy who suffers from Treacher Collins Syndrome, a genetic disorder characterized by facial deformity, as he begins attending school for the first time as a sixth-grader.
The film will be shown at dusk at Newhouse Park, on Newhouse Park Road off of Stotler Road in Delmont.
This summer’s films will include “Despicable Me 3,” “A Wrinkle in Time” and “The Goonies.”
Families are invited to bring blankets and chairs. There is no cost to attend, and showings are open to the public.
For additional information, including weather-related cancellations, see the “Delmont Recreation” page on Facebook.
Recreation board officials are also seeking additional sponsors for the “Movies in the Park” series.
