Murrysville police responded to a multi-car crash on Route 22 near the Cozy Inn Cut-Off just before 2 p.m. today.

Chief Tom Seefeld did not have information available about injuries, but said both vehicles required towing from the crash scene.

Seefeld said officers have gotten quite a few calls about drivers stuck in the snow.

“It came down pretty hard,” he said.

Heavy snowfall moved through southeastern Allegheny County and Westmoreland County early this afternoon, creating hazardous driving conditions. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration issued a warning that visibility was dropping to near-zero along the snow front.

Wind-chill readings are forecast to plummet to 25 below zero between Wednesday and Friday morning throughout Southwest Pennsylvania, according to NOAA advisories.
