The kitchen area of Atria's Restaurant on the 4000 block of William Penn Highway was damaged in a fire early Monday morning.

Crews from Murrysville Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 were called to the scene around 12:23 a.m.

Fire Chief Brian Synan said the kitchen's broiler appeared to be the source of the fire.

“The damage was mainly held to the kitchen, limited to the broiler area and the surrounding equipment,” Synan said.

Fire crews were on the scene for about two hours.

Owner John Mangone said he hopes to have the restaurant open by the end of this week.
